Pima Community College
Since the first classes were held in an airport hangar in the fall of 1970, over 250,000 people have enrolled for credit at Pima Community College. PCC is now the eighth largest multi-campus community college in the nation. PCC accommodates over 55,000 credit and non-credit students per year who attend classes ranging from two-year degree programs to mariachi music lessons. Five campuses offer university transfer, occupational, and general studies courses in the Tucson area and in neighboring Santa Cruz County. The college offers approximately 3,000 active courses and 90 active pilot courses in 224 different programs leading to associate of arts, associate of science, associate of applied arts and associate of applied science degrees and basic, advanced and technical certificates. The flexibility offered by day, evening and weekend classes, as well as televised, self-paced, and accelerated courses makes attending college a possibility for many. Because Pima Community College is supported mainly by county taxes and state aid, tuition remains under $30 per credit. The College maintains libraries at four campuses.
