Tucson Health Care
Tucson has the state's only medical school and is home of the Arizona Cancer Center and the University Medical Center. The Medical Center's transplant program is one of only nine in the nation. Tucson is home to several recognized leading managed health care companies including Intergroup Health Care Corporation and Partners. Two well-known medical related organizations, the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the American Board of Radiology, are headquartered in Tucson. The Greater Tucson area has 14 hospitals and a medical community comprised of more than 2,000 physicians and over 400 dentists.

Carondelet St. Joseph's Hospital

350 W Wilmont, 873-3000. 320-bed comprehensive general acute-care hospital, with a major emphasis on outpatient care. St. Joseph's offers a cardiac rehabilitation center, a diabetes care center, home health care services and specialized physical medicine and rehabilitation programs.

Carondelet St. Mary's Hospital

1601 W St. Mary's Road, 872-3000. 374-bed multi-specialty, acute-care facility. St. Mary's offers the largest cardiac service, including diagnostic treatment and rehabilitation services; gastro- enterology; orthopedics; nuclear medicine; a full-service diagnostic imaging center; specialized physical medicine and rehabilitation programs, including psychiatric services. St. Mary's Burn Center is the only treatment facility of its kind in Southern Arizona

El Dorado Hospital and Medical Center

1400 N Wilmont, 886-6361. 166-bed medical/surgical hospital providing cardiac care, 24-hour emergency care, urgent care, orthopedics, neurology, oncology, pulmonary care, ambulatory surgery, nutrition support services and complete diagnostic services.

Kino Community Hospital

2800 E Ajo Way, 294-4471. 213-bed community hospital offers general medical/surgical, obstetrical, gynecological, pediatric and surgical specialties in its outpatient clinic, inpatient services including departments of medicine, surgery, obstetrics, gynecology and psychiatry. Support services include physical and respiratory therapy.

Northwest Hospital

6200 N La Cholla Boulevard, 742-9000. 130-bed acute-care hospital provides outpatient surgery, and extensive primary care/family practice medical staff and an active oncology treatment program. Northwest Hospital shares a 238-acre medical campus with Sonora Desert Psychiatric Hospital, Desert Life Health Care Center, Life Care Center of Tucson, The Fountains at La Cholla, Desert Life Medical Offices and the Rehabilitation Hospital of Southern Arizona.

Rehab Institute of Tucson

2650 N Wyatt, 325-1300. 80-bed free-standing medical rehabilitation hospital which offers specialized adult and pediatric programs in English and Spanish for brain injury, stroke, orthopedics, spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, amputation and arthritis. Services include inpatient, outpatient, full-day treatment and low-endurance programs, also special adaptive driving and return-to-work programs.

Tucson General Hospital

3838 N Campbell, 327-5431. 237-bed full-service, acute-care facility provides comprehensive surgical/medical care. As an accredited training hospital Tucson General's medical staff provides training in all specialties through its intern and residency programs. Services include Family Maternity Center, Laser Center, a skilled-nursing facility, Summit Senior Golden CARE, and Westcenter, a full service rehabilitation facility.

Tucson Medical Center

5301 E Grant Road, 327-5461. 626-bed regional hospital and referral center for cardiovascular, neurological, orthopedic, oncological and neonatal intensive care. More than 1,000 physicians on staff represent some 60 specialties and sub-specialties. TMC provides complete inpatient and outpatient services, comprehensive behavioral health services, 24-hour emergency and trauma care, an ambulatory surgery center and full-service imaging department. TMC serves as the Cancer Care Center of Southern Arizona, contains a Level 1 trauma center and is the base for the Arizona DPS Air Rescue unit. TMC also offers a seniors program, physician referral, free lectures and a host of fitness and wellness classes for the community.

University Medical Center

1501 N Campbell, 694-0111. 300-bed teaching and research hospital for the Arizona Health Sciences Center located at the University of Arizona. UMC is a regional, acute-care referral center for Arizona and the Southwest; specialties include oncology, cardiology, pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology, radiology, orthopedics, neurology, intensive care, neonatology, urology, organ transplantation and rehabilitation. Well known for its pioneering work in heart and heart/lung transplantation, UMC also has a Level 1 Trauma Center, 24-hour emergency care, and urgent care center and AirCare, an aero-medical transport system. The hospital offers the only bone marrow transplant program in the Southwest.

Veterans Affairs Medical Center

3601 S 6th Ave, 792-1450. 325-bed regional hospital and referral center for Arizona veterans requiring treatment in oncology, cardiology and neurology/neurosurgery and psychiatric services. The hospital is affiliated with the University of Arizona Colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy and Nursing and Pima Community College; specialties include inpatient alcohol treatment, outpatient drug and alcohol treatment, oncology, cardiac catheterization, angioplasty and surgery, audiology/speech pathology, and a program for the homeless.
